What Are The Benefits?

Sports Therapy is not solely for the sports participants, a back injury sustained from gardening for example will respond well to treatment. Sports and remedial massage and associated manual techniques are applied to;

  • Relieve Pain
  • Assist recovery
  • Injury Prevention
  • Improve Posture
  • Reduce Anxiety
  • Reduce Muscular Aches, Pains and Spasms
  • Increase Joint  flexibility and muscle strength
  • Stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Reduce pain fro chronic conditions such as rheumatism or arthritis
  • Relax and de-stress from the demands of modern society

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION OF THERAPY?

Annmarie will conduct a thorough assessment of your problem. This will include taking  full relevant medical history. This will be followed by an examination of the area. The initial consultation will last for an hour and include treatment. At the end of the session, Annmarie will advise on the best course of action for you. An individual programme will be offered for you to pursue at home so as to maximise the benefit of the therapy and guarantee long lasting results.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

You will be required to undress to a certain extent whilst being assessed. Alternativley, you may bring shorts and a sports bra with you if you desire. Only the body part being worked on will be exposed whilst towels will cover the rest of you.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?

Sports Therapy uses deep techniques to manipulate the soft tissues. Muscle soreness is therefore a normal response after treatment but will varyin intensity depending on the complaint and individual pain threshold. Soreness may last anything up to one to three days but relief can be felt immediately after treatment.
